A message about National Finals
National Finals 2017 in Gillette, Wyoming, was an amazing experience. I was able to represent New York State as well as make some pretty amazing memories. I was super nervous when I arrived at Nationals because I didn’t know anyone other than the other competitors from New York. I thought I would be on my own during the whole week. However, when I met the other Queens and made friends with a few of them quickly, I was soon making memories that would last a lifetime.
My favorite part of the Queen Contest was the Horsemanship events and carrying the NYS Flag in Grand Entry before the performance. The arena is my safe spot. Being able to ride in front of thousands of people was extremely exciting.
My goal at Nationals was to do the best I could, have fun, and to represent my State. I wanted to show the people at Nationals that New York is more than just the City. It was a very tough competition, but the experience was worth it. I placed 40th out of 42 girls. Not the best place but I was 40th in the World! Having all the little kids run up to me and ask me for an autograph and a picture makes everything worth it!
